Trustee (Voluntary)

Echoes Charity is a registered mental health charity providing free workshops and groups which are written and facilitated by qualified and registered counsellors and psychotherapists. We are looking for additional trustees to help strengthen our board and support the charity’s ongoing work.

Ideally, candidates will have a successful track record in business or the charitable sector and a clean financial record. Knowledge of how charities work is useful but not essential. We want to broaden the skills and experience of our board and share the responsibilities involved in running the charity. Skills in areas such as fundraising, accountancy, research or administration would be welcome, but enthusiasm, sound judgement and a willingness to contribute are equally important.

The role of Trustee will include:

• Working with those managing and governing the charity.
• Attending online, monthly, hour-long trustee meetings to receive updates and make policy and governance decisions with the other members of the board.
• Taking ownership of one or more policies and being responsible for any issues that may arise.
• Taking an active interest in the work of the charity, helping to promote it and contributing useful contacts and ideas.

Where possible, we would also like trustees to volunteer for a few days each year, using their skills and strengths to support the management team.

We view joining the board as an opportunity for someone looking for professional development, and wishing to help shape the future of a charity and make a real difference to peoples’ lives.

The role is unpaid, but normal and reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed where needed.
